When your birthday is on Cinco de Mayo, it is always a party!!!! Just as we did last year, we had some of our neighbors over for a Mexican fiesta to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Mac's birthday. I stayed up late Monday night making YUMMY chicken enchiladas and made sure I had some margarita mix on hand. Let the party begin!
Of course the party began before breakfast on May 5th when Mac opened his gifts from me and Fred and Gwyneth. He was so excited that his birthday had finally arrived, and frankly, so was I, as I had been peppered with questions as to when it was going to be here for the last 2 months!
I know this photo came out blurry, but I just LOVE the expression of excitement on his face about his first present.
And the first gift he opened...
...a guitar. He LOVES this thing! I think I am going to have to find him some lessons in the fall. Gwyneth also really loved it! My mom might have a small guitar for her to have when they come back up in August. It would be fun if they both took lessons. Gwyneth has already written a couple of songs. Hum? Perhaps we have a future song writer in our midst?
Onto more gifts.
Gwyneth got Mac a T-Rex alarm clock for him to start using when kindergarten starts in the fall. It roars to wake you up! Sweet. :-)
The Sketchers that Mac has wanted for months! I don't think he has worn any other shoes since Tuesday morning!
Now onto the party Tuesday night...
Mac had been eying this Indiana Jones cake for about 6 months in the Albertson's bakery! He finally got to have it! He was so excited!
Checking out how the boulder rolls across the cake.
All in all a fun evening with our neighbors! The enchiladas were great, and the company even better. Here's Mac with all the neighborhood kids.
Happy 5th Birthday Mac!!!
I will post pictures from his pirate party that we had for him this past Saturday soon!
