We had a fabulous time on Gwyneth' school spring camping trip this year. 6 parents were able to go along, as well as the teacher. I was the only mom with 5 dads-good times! Actually, it was totally fun, and between Ms. Rose, the teacher, and I, we kept those dads in line!
The kids had been studying the Oregon Trail and Lewis and Clark, so for the spring trip we headed out on the Oregon Trail. Our first stop was just outside Baker City, OR at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Museum. What an interesting place! I never knew that much about the Oregon Trail and what the pioneers endured in making their way across our great nation. All I can say is that I probably wouldn't have made it!
After spending the entire morning at the museum learning about the Oregon Trail, we had lunch and then headed out to our camp site. We traveled back east towards Boise about 45 minutes and camped at Farewell Bend State Park. It is a nice little camp site with lots of grass and a lake. Ms. Rose was so organized; she had everything scheduled and kept the kids busy enough so they didn't get themselves into trouble, but not too busy so they had plenty of time to run around and enjoy themselves. We enjoyed kabobs, s'mores, and yummy French toast in the morning. I slept in the girls tent-Ms. Rose, me and the 4 girls in the class. There were no shenanigans when it was time to go to bed. The kids were all so tired, I think they fell asleep right away.
In the morning we had a hearty breakfast and then played some mock pioneer games. We headed back to Boise around 11am. All in all, smooth sailing!
Here are some photos from our adventures!
