Some of the best summer plans are...no plans at all.
I have seen the kids use their imaginations in all the games they have created and in all the little things they have figured out to do by themselves.
I'm not going to say I haven't heard those dreaded words, "I'm bored!" at all, but for the most part they have kept themselves pretty entertained.
No...it's just Mac having more fun at Camp Invention! Today was "Mixed-Up Day!"
The kids are enjoying lots of fun and mental and creative stimulation this week while attending Camp Invention. Today was Crazy Hair Day, and we had some fun getting ready this morning!
Here are the kids, with Gwyneth's buddy who spent the night, with their crazy hair!
All in good fun, and it washed right out in the shower this evening!

I find these drawings in the PILES of paper that come home in his Friday Folder every week, and some amongst the PILES of paper the "decorate" the kids "office".
This drawing was inspired by the violin lessons that the kindergartners have once a week. A kindergarten parent is an accomplished violinist and offered to teach the children basic violin skills. And thanks to a generous donation, now the kindergartners get to enjoy violin lessons once a week.
I love this! This is all boy! Dragons, knights, castles...and a smiling sun!
The only one that is legit is this AMAZING wolf drawing. This was done in his classroom, as well as during art time, with guidance from their art teacher. The kindergartners drew these wolf pictures after they had attended an assembly about the wolves who reside in Idaho.

I just bought the kids brand new, fresh markers! I can't wait to see what they create!
Yesterday I accompanied the 2nd grade class up to the Nordic Center at Bogus Basin for a day of cross country skiing. During January and early February the kids' school partakes in "Winter Activities". K and 1st grade do a "Learn to Ice Skate" program on Friday's, 2nd and 3rd learn how to cross country ski, and the 4th and 5th grade go snowshoeing. I think it a really great opportunity that our kids have through their school. Idaho is such an outdoor-geared state, and they are learning how to enjoy it!
Gwyneth is ready to hit the trail with her skate skis on. The kids learn both classic and skate ski styles of cross country.
It was an absolutely GORGEOUS day up on the mountain! Is it really January in Idaho?
And they're off!
It's hard work going UP those hills. Going down is the fun part!

We are so proud of Gwyneth!!! She competed in her first ski race on Saturday with the Bogus Basin Ski Team!!!
It was a Giant Slalom race (big wide turns for you non-skiers). She made it with out missing any gates, which was her main worry.

MAC: I hate girls. They're too bossy. Bossy. bossy, bossy!
I have a feeling he will feel differently in time. Well, at least about hating girls. Maybe not about the bossy part. :-)
The last week of school the each class entertained the families at pick up. Every afternoon a different class caroled outside the elementary school.
On anther afternoon the 2nd grade sang.
Such a fun event! I hope they do this again next year!
